Why Valentine’s Day Isn’t Just for Couples

Happy Valentine’s Day! Did you know that you don’t have to bored or miserable on Valentine’s Day if you’re single? Sure you may think that the holiday is lame and only for those lovey-dovey couples. But, being single can have lots of benefits and there are tons of ways to have fun today (on and off campus)!

  1. Valentine’s Day can be your day to love you! Treat yourself today and relax. You’re probably tired or stressed from this week anyway so why not take this day to yourself and relax? Get comfy and watch your favorite movies, order some pizza eat candy!
  2. The best thing about this day is that you don’t have to worry about spending your hard earned cash on someone else. No worries about making reservations at a crowded restaurant or worrying if you spent enough money to get the biggest box of chocolates or other expensive gifts.
  3. Go to a club and meet new people! Don’t want to go alone? Take some friends and dance or just hang out. Clubs are filled with singles too so you have a good chance of dancing with a cute guy or girl!
  4. Go to the movies or go the mall and take yourself out on a date. Last Valentine’s Day when I was single, I went to the mall and treated myself to a mini shopping spree and saw a movie that I’ve been dying to see all week. Like I mentioned before, why spend money on someone else when you can indulge yourself today?

Remember that Valentine’s Day is not just for couples, it is about loving the people around you such as your family and friends. Tell them that you love them and appreciate them being there for you. Remember, have fun today and love those around you and yourself!
