It’s your first day back from Spring Break, but did you also know it’s also the first day of the Academic Advising Period? This means it’s time to set up a meeting with your adviser. If you don’t know your adviser’s name, you can find out on Navigator by clicking Student Home, then Academic Home and then View my advisers. With your adviser’s name, you can email them and set up an appointment to meet. Your adviser will be a member of the department you’re majoring in and they’ll be able to help you decide what classes to take next semester.
It’s a good idea to come to your advising meeting with an idea of what classes you want and need to take in the Fall. Even if you only know one or two of these classes, your adviser will be happy to see you’ve begun to think about your Fall schedule, and is there to help you figure the rest out! It can be helpful to write down any questions you have about your major, your classes, or even locations on campus and bring them to this meeting too. Your adviser will also give you the all-important access code that you’ll have to enter to in order to sign up for the classes you’ve chosen. Advising ends at the end of the month, but don’t wait to make an appointment with your adviser. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time to figure out a day that’s convenient both of you. Once you have that out of the way, registration starts the first week of April!
