Goal Setting

Hey First Year Students!

Do you have a big paper coming up? Do you want to run a five mile race on Thanksgiving morning? These are all things that I am struggling with during this stressful month of October! I am trying to set small goals for myself and I know it is not always easy to maintain a positive attitude during this part of the semester. I am sure you are all experiencing the same type of stress! Take a deep breath! *Inhale, Exhale* We are going to get through this together! Let’s talk about some strategies to have better time management and effectively reach our goals!

  • Take out your schedule and figure out what is due for class in chronological order. Then make a to-do list for every week and goals you want to accomplish. By checking off smaller things on your to-do list you will accomplish more in the long run! (Throw a positive quote in there too to keep you motivated!)
  • When looking at your schedule take some time for yourself! Nothing will get accomplished if you are wrapped up and stressed out in your school work. There is nothing wrong with taking time out of your day for you!
  • Stay positive and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Take breaks, exercise, or nap, whatever you have to do to get to the end of the semester! We are all capable of being successful we just have to keep going even when it gets hard!
