Haunted Happenings at Ellison Campus Center was yesterday, Sunday, October 25. Basically, Salem State holds a little Halloween party for the children of Salem. This takes place all over ECC. In Vets Hall we had cookies, water and lemonade, and a bouncy house. Downstairs there was a haunted house! The First Year Advisory Board was in the Commuter lounge with ring toss, and there were other activities for kids like making spider webs.
Kids of all ages came — dressed in costume — for a day full of fun. We had some younger children, and we had some teenagers, too.
There are plenty of ways for you to get involved on campus! This event was one of them. We had volunteers from different groups and clubs helping out and it turned out to be a great success! First Year Mentors Jordan and Amine took the first shift at the ring toss, then First Year Mentor Shelby and myself (First Year Mentor Kaitlynn) ended the day strong.
FAB (First Year Advisory Board) is a great way to get involved on campus! We meet about once a month and we do different activities. We recently met on October 15 to watch Hocus Pocus and make Halloween bracelets. Student Success Coaches Cat and Sean work hard to put this on, and if you’re a first year student (whether it be a freshman, transfer student, or an international student) you’re invited to join the fun! It’s an awesome way to meet other first years who are going through the same things you are, and to meet some of us over at the First Year Experience Office without going all the way to our office (Meier Hall, 100A).
All in all, Haunted Happenings was a success and it was a lot of fun. Check out FAB on Facebook for more information on our upcoming events and how you can get involved!
