Hey First Year Students!
Often times many students do not check their Salem State issued email address – I’m here to tell you how important it is that you do! Email is the recommended/default way to communicate with other students and faculty on campus, as well as potential employers, in the most professional way possible.
For starters, it is important to know how to log in to your email account. Here are the steps!
- Go to salemstate.edu and under the drop down logins menu in the top right corner, click student email
- Now enter your SSU login. Your User ID is your student ID number. Your password is the same password as your Navigator account.
Now you’re in! It is vital that you check your student email every single day. Yes – every single day. Messages in regards to what is going on on campus are regularly communicated through student email, as well as communications with your professors in regards to class cancelations and more.
It is especially important to check your email during exam times such as midterms and finals, as well as during the advising and registration periods because it is likely your professors and advisors will be contacting you through there.
Using your Salem State email strictly for campus and professional communications will prevent a build up of spam mail to your account! Setting up your Salem State email on your smartphone is also a great idea – having your emails pushed to your phone allows you to know exactly when you get an email!
