Gobble Up Your Academics During Break!

With this upcoming time off from classes, many of us are thinking about all the sleep and Netflix we’ll be catching up on. While self care is important, it is essential to use your time wisely and create a balance between relaxing and getting work done. Here are some helpful tips to ensure you’re getting the most out of your break!

  1. Traveling far for the Holiday? Bring your reading!

Travel time is a great opportunity to get ahead with your class readings! Taking notes may be difficult during the commute, but highlighting key points will help you when it’s crunch time and you don’t have time to read the entire chapter over again.

  1. For every hour you spend relaxing, spend at least 30 minutes (or more) completing work!

This break is chance to get caught up or get ahead with classes! If you decide to hangout with friends from home for 3 hours, put in at least an hour and half of homework time later that day. This will ensure that you are using your break efficiently for academic success and self care!

  1. Talk about what you’re learning in your classes. Try to teach someone a new concept!

The best way to learn is to teach! When your family asks about your classes, tell them what you’re learning in detail! It will help you absorb the lesson more and be able to master it on the final exam.

  1. Download the Canvas app to your phone.

When the conversation starts to get a little boring during dinner, you can check the assignments that you have coming up, and maybe even complete one. While your family is having a discussion about the new color their thinking about painting the kitchen, you could be adding to a discussion post for your class!

With all of these helpful hints, finding a balance during your break will be easy! Relax, catch up with family and friends, and get ahead of the work in your classes. Make sure to take advantage of these few days, because when we get back, it’s crunch time! Have a great break Vikings!!
