We may have just started the Spring semester, but it’s never too late to start planning for next year, especially financial planning! College can be expensive so it’s essential to find as many ways to deficit the cost as possible. Below you can find the deadlines for some important cost saving methods!
February 15, 2018- Salem State Financial Aid Priority Deadline
Every year students need to re-apply for Financial Aid for the following year. This year, the priority deadline at Salem State University is February 15th (which is only 3 weeks away!!) Aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and students are urged to file their FAFSA as soon as possible to ensure they receive the most aid they are eligible to receive.
March 1st, 2018- Salem State University Academic Works Scholarship Deadline
Academic Works is a leading provider of scholarship management solutions and will match you with relevant scholarship opportunities offered at Salem State University. This can be found in your Navigator account under the Quick Links tab. After filling out a brief General Application, the system will find scholarships that apply to your specific needs and academic path. From there, you will need to apply to the individualized scholarships and answer more questions that specific to that scholarship. As someone who has received a scholarship through Academic Works, this is an amazing option for students who need some extra financial help!
May 1st, 2018- Massachusetts’ FAFSA Deadline
Every state has a different deadline for submitting their Financial Aid and in Massachusetts it is May 1st! While you should be trying to meet the Priority Deadline so you can receive as much financial aid as possible, know that you do have some wiggle room when it comes to submitting it, but only until May!! After that, you will be at risk for receiving no Financial Aid.
Upon taking these steps for College financial security, you will be one step closer to an affordable bill. Once your applications are submitted, the ball is out of your court, so be patient for a response! It will help to continuously check your Navigator account and email for any updates. And as always, the First Year Experience office is here to assist you with anything you may need!
